Wild Perennial Lupine growing to be about 36” tall, Lupine can be planted in meadow or in the garden bed. Lupine is extremely easy to grow, deer resistant and blooms year after year. Showy, elongate clusters of purple, pea-like flowers top the 1-2 ft. stems of this perennial lupine. Blue, pea-like flowers are in an upright, elongated, terminal cluster on an erect stem.
Lupine seeds are very hard and to quicken germination you need soften the hard coating on these seeds, rub them lightly with sandpaper or soak them in 180 degrees F water overnight before sowing. Sow them in early spring, planting 1/2” deep. Keep the soil lightly moist until germination. They don't like their roots disturbed so direct sowing is recommended.
